Let’s be friends.

I’m Carla Herreria, a 27-year-old journalist based in Hawaii. For now, I live on the north shore of Oahu with my fat orange cat and husband but that’s probably going to change soon. I report to HuffPost and I cover way too many things, including national breaking news, Hawaii, culture and identity, and politics.

In my spare time, I surf, freedive, saunter on beaches, take myself too seriously and scribble thoughts into my journal. I also write poetry, which makes me feel infinitely alive and embarrassed, in that order.

If you want to see what my day job looks like, you can read my professional work here.
